Auburn University has dismissed head football coach Hugh Freeze, marking the school as the 13th college football program to change head coaches this year. Auburn joins Arkansas, Florida, and LSU as the fourth Southeastern Conference (SEC) school currently seeking a new head coach. Freeze's departure comes after a tenure in which he was unable to guide Auburn to a championship stature, concluding with a record of 15-19. LSU also recently parted ways with coach Brian Kelly following a significant loss to Texas A&M, and Florida is looking for a new coach for the fifth time since Urban Meyer’s retirement, after dismissing Billy Napier. Other notable programs with vacancies include Penn State, which is seeking a successor to James Franklin after 11 years, and Oklahoma State, which let go of longtime coach Mike Gundy following a winless Big 12 season.
