Why the Georgia vs. Florida rivalry is personal for Gunner Stockton and his family

The annual rivalry game between the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators, known as the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party," will take place in Jacksonville at EverBank Stadium. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton has a personal connection to this matchup as his grandfather, Lawrence Stockton, passed away from a heart attack outside the stadium in 2010 after Georgia lost to Florida.

Lawrence Stockton was a University of Georgia alumnus and shared a close bond with Gunner, influencing the quarterback's desire to perform well against Florida. Gunner Stockton, who recently earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors after a standout performance against Ole Miss, will be starting against Florida for the first time.

In his last game, Stockton completed 26 of 31 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 59 yards and a score. His perfect second-half performance made him the first FBS quarterback since Aaron Rodgers in 2004 to complete 12 or more consecutive passes
