49ers unlikely to use franchise tag again in 2024

The San Francisco 49ers are unlikely to use the franchise tag or transition tag on any players in 2024. These tags are typically used on top-end free agents, but the 49ers don't have any players fitting that description this year. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is on his fifth-year option and not subject to a tag, while defensive end Chase Young's performance didn't meet expectations. The last time the 49ers used the franchise tag was in 2018. It seems they won't be using it again this year.
