Report card: Bills defense in 2023

The Buffalo Bills defense in the 2023 season received mixed reviews. Ed Oliver stood out as one of the best interior defenders in the NFL, while depth options and other big names struggled with injuries. Leonard Floyd and Greg Rousseau performed well in the pass rush, but Von Miller disappointed with no sacks after returning from injury. Terrel Bernard was a revelation, stepping up in the absence of Tremaine Edmunds. The Bills showed strength in their defensive backs, even without Tre'Davious White. Punter Sam Martin underperformed, and Tyler Bass's missed kick in the postseason was a lingering disappointment. The Bills had below-average performance in kick coverage.
