Ryan Bates hopeful to stay with Bills and earn his spot

Ryan Bates, who is currently under contract with the Buffalo Bills for the 2024 season, hopes to stay with the team and earn his spot. Despite being matched by the Bills when he signed an offer sheet with the Chicago Bears in 2022, Bates is no longer a starter on the offensive line. The Bills had a strong offensive line in 2023, ranked sixth-best in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. However, Bates still wants to remain in Buffalo. His $5.5 million cap hit as a backup could be a challenge for the team, considering their salary cap situation. It remains to be seen if the Bills will rework his deal to keep him.
