Report: Broncos hire Jim Leonhard to be their defensive backs coach

The Denver Broncos have hired Jim Leonhard as their new defensive backs coach, replacing Christian Parker, who joined the Philadelphia Eagles. Leonhard, a former NFL safety, is well-regarded in coaching circles and has been in talks with several NFL and college teams before joining the Broncos. He played in the NFL from 2005 to 2014 for multiple teams, accumulating impressive stats. After his playing career, Leonhard coached at Wisconsin and served as their defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator. He then worked as a senior football analyst for Illinois. This will be Leonhard's coaching debut in the NFL. He will be filling the shoes of Parker, who is seen as an up-and-coming coach and was responsible for developing many of the Broncos' secondary players. This is the second addition to the Broncos coaching staff this offseason, with Pete Carmichael also joining as an offensive coach. The team still needs to find a replacement for former defensive line coach Marcus Dixon.
