Rex Ryan 'nearly' got Broncos' defensive coordinator job in 2023

Rex Ryan was a potential candidate for the Denver Broncos' defensive coordinator position in 2023. However, the team ultimately hired Vance Joseph. Ryan later expressed dissatisfaction with Denver's contract offer. The Broncos' defense struggled initially under Joseph, and Ryan criticized the unit on ESPN. There were rumors of a possible in-season switch to Ryan as the defensive coordinator, but it did not happen. As of now, the Broncos have not made any coaching changes from the 2023 staff, indicating that Joseph will likely continue as the defensive coordinator in 2024. Ryan is currently being considered for the Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator job.
