PFF believes the Commanders could shake up the NFL offseason with this move

Pro Football Focus suggests that the Washington Commanders should sign former Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, despite owning the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Cousins is considered the top quarterback in the 2024 free-agent class, but his age (35) and recent Achilles tendon injury are factors to consider. The Commanders have not had a winning record since Cousins was the starter in 2015 and 2016. The new head coach, Dan Quinn, may want to win quickly and could be tempted to sign Cousins instead of starting a rookie quarterback. However, if they do sign Cousins, it raises the question of why they would draft a quarterback with the second overall pick. It is suggested that the Commanders could trade down, select an offensive tackle, and acquire additional draft picks. Personally, it is doubted that Cousins would want to return to Washington due to the opposition he faced during his previous tenure.
