Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin were both snubbed from the AP Comeback Player of the Year award at the NFL Honors. Tagovailoa had dealt with multiple concussions during the 2022 season and had contemplated retirement due to the injuries. Meanwhile, Hamlin had died on the field and was revived, returning to play the next season. However, the award went to Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco, who came out of retirement to lead the team to four wins in his five starts. Other nominees for the award were Baker Mayfield of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams.
