McKinnley Jackson, a defensive tackle from Texas A&M, could be a hidden gem in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite missing time due to injury and not receiving an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, Jackson has shown explosiveness and disruption on the field. He is a stout and powerful player with good leverage, able to drive blockers and collapse pockets. Jackson is also a reliable run defender and displays great competitive toughness. However, he struggles to consistently capitalize on his disruptiveness, lacks agility, and can be slow to react to misdirection. Jackson projects as a rotational defensive tackle with scheme versatility and has room for development. He may need to be rotated off the field to stay fresh. Although he doesn't fit the New York Giants' needs, he could be a late Day 2 or early Day 3 value in the draft.
