Former Lions QB David Blough joins Washington Commanders coaching staff

Former Detroit Lions quarterback David Blough has joined the Washington Commanders coaching staff as the new assistant quarterbacks coach. Blough, who recently finished the 2023 season on the Lions' practice squad, did not sign a futures contract with the team. With seven career starts under his belt, Blough brings his knowledge and game-planning skills to Washington. It is unclear if the Lions offered Blough a coaching position, but they already have a quarterbacks coach and an assistant coach. The Lions may be looking for a veteran passer to fill out their quarterback room after Blough and Teddy Bridgewater retired for coaching jobs.
