Key deadline passes for Packers’ upcoming free agents

The Green Bay Packers have passed a key deadline for upcoming free agents, resulting in an additional $9.5 million in dead cap for the 2024 season. The deadline prevented the Packers from shedding void years on contracts for tackle Yosh Nijman, cornerback Keisean Nixon, and safety Darnell Savage. This makes it less likely that the Packers will re-sign these players, but it's not a done deal. In the past, the team has re-signed players they let go in a similar fashion. Nijman is expected to sign elsewhere due to Green Bay's cap crunch. Savage's future with the team is uncertain due to a change in defensive leadership. Nixon, who wants to stay with the Packers, is likely to test the open market before finalizing any deal.
