Former Packers DC Joe Barry hired for new job

Former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry has been hired by the Miami Dolphins as their next linebackers coach with a run game coordinator title. Barry had interviewed with the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles but ultimately landed with the Dolphins. His previous experience as a linebackers coach makes this move unsurprising, although the title of run game coordinator is ironic considering the Packers' struggles in stopping the run during his tenure. Barry will join a Dolphins team that is also undergoing defensive changes, with former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio leaving for the Philadelphia Eagles and Anthony Weaver taking over. Barry has worked with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Rams head coach Sean McVay in the past, which may have influenced Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel's decision to hire him.
