NFL insider: Brian Burns could be tag-and-trade candidate this offseason

According to NFL insider Albert Breer, the Carolina Panthers may use the franchise tag on Brian Burns, their star pass rusher. However, this doesn't guarantee that he will remain with the team. Breer suggests that Burns could be a potential tag-and-trade candidate, as the Panthers have been unable to reach a long-term agreement with him. If tagged, Burns would be on a one-year, $21.9 million deal and the Panthers would have until July 15 to extend his contract or explore a trade. Teams have until March 5 to use the franchise tag.
