Patriots free agency profile: New regime could decide Cody Davis’ future

Cody Davis, a specialist/safety, will hit unrestricted free agency for the second consecutive year. The New England Patriots are undergoing significant changes this offseason, including a new head coach and a restructured front office. They have 24 in-house free agents to address, including Davis. After playing for the St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars, Davis joined the Patriots in 2020 as a pure specialist. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2021 but re-signed with the team on a one-year contract extension. Davis's role decreased towards the end of the season, and it is uncertain if the Patriots will retain him under the new leadership. The Los Angeles Rams and teams with poor special teams rankings, such as the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Indianapolis Colts, could be potential landing spots for Davis. If he does not retire, he might receive another low-money one-year deal in free agency.
