Patriots reportedly cutting veteran safety Adrian Phillips

The New England Patriots have released veteran safety Adrian Phillips, following the release of defensive lineman Lawrence Guy. Phillips' playing time significantly decreased in the 2023 season, with him only being on the field for 12 percent of defensive snaps compared to 82 percent in 2021. The Patriots have many talented players competing for playing time at the safety position, making it a luxury position. The team is looking to create space for free agency moves by parting ways with older veteran players like Phillips.
