On February 17, 1983, Hall of Fame linebacker Jack Ham retired from the NFL after a 12-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ham was a consistent and steady force on the field, starting at left outside linebacker from his rookie season. He earned numerous accolades, including being named the Football News Defensive Player of the Year in 1975 and making eight straight Pro Bowls. Ham retired with impressive stats, including 25 sacks, 21 fumble recoveries, and 32 interceptions. He holds the record for the most takeaways by a non-defensive back. Ham was also recognized on various all-time and anniversary teams, including the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team and the Steelers 75th Anniversary Team. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame and was named to the Hall of Fame 50th Anniversary Team alongside Lawrence Taylor.
