According to the latest round of mock drafts, the Houston Texans are expected to focus on the defensive front with their #23 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Among the experts surveyed, Penn State defensive end Chop Robinson and Illinois defensive tackle Jer'Zhan "Johnny" Newton are the most popular choices, with six mock drafts predicting each player to be picked by the Texans. Other players mocked to the Texans include offensive lineman Troy Fautanu, Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., UCLA defensive end Laiatu Latu, and cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo and Kool-Aid McKinstry of Alabama. Overall, 72.2% of the mock drafts see the Texans selecting a defensive player in the first round, with 10 predicting a defensive end, 10 predicting a defensive tackle, and six predicting a cornerback. The NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, April 25 in Detroit.
