Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has been named the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He is the first player in franchise history to receive this honor. Stroud had an impressive rookie season, starting in all 15 of his appearances and setting multiple records. He completed 319-of-499 pass attempts for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions, with a passer rating of 100.8. His passing yards ranked third among rookie quarterbacks in NFL history. Stroud also led the league in passing yards per game and touchdown-interception ratio. He received multiple Player of the Week and Player of the Month honors, and was selected to the Pro Bowl. The Texans also had defensive end Will Anderson Jr. named as the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, making it a sweep of the top rookie awards for the team. The Texans are the fourth team since 1967 to win both Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year in the same season.
