Houston Texans assistant offensive line coach Cole Popovich will be returning to the team on a new contract. Popovich had reportedly interviewed with the Washington Commanders but ultimately decided to stay with the Texans. This makes him the third coach that Houston has retained with a reworked deal, following offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson. Linebackers coach Chris Kiffin also interviewed for a job with the Miami Dolphins but is expected to return to the Texans. However, the team did lose senior offensive assistant Shane Day, who left to become the quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Chargers. Popovich will continue to work alongside offensive line coach Chris Strausser.
