Steve Clinkscale leaving Michigan to coach Chargers DBs

Steve Clinkscale, former defensive backs coach for the University of Michigan, is leaving to join the Los Angeles Chargers coaching staff. Clinkscale has experience coaching at various programs, including Kentucky and Cincinnati. He will be coaching the Chargers' defensive backs, joining head coach Jim Harbaugh. Clinkscale's departure is seen as a blow to Michigan's coaching staff, particularly in recruiting. During his time at Michigan, Clinkscale helped the team win their first College Football Playoff national title in 2023 and mentored successful defensive backs like Dax Hill, D.J. Turner, and Mike Sainristil.
