With the 2025 college football season approaching, preparations for bowl season are underway. The regular season concludes on November 29, with bowl game announcements on December 7. Bowl season will feature 35 traditional bowl games, four College Football Playoff (CFP) first-round games, four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and one national championship game, totaling 46 matchups. A total of 82 FBS programs will participate in postseason play.
Teams must win at least six games to become bowl eligible, with only one win against FCS opponents counting towards eligibility. If more than 82 teams qualify, some will miss out on postseason play. Conversely, if fewer teams qualify, Delaware and Missouri State, transitioning from FCS, would be considered first, provided they meet eligibility criteria. Other teams with five wins may become eligible based on Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores.
