Alabama QB Ty Simpson expected to declare for 2026 NFL Draft

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has announced his decision to enter the NFL Draft, foregoing any remaining college football eligibility. In his debut season as Alabama's starting quarterback, Simpson amassed 3,567 passing yards, threw 30 touchdowns, and had five interceptions, leading the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff and securing a first-round victory against Oklahoma. However, Alabama's playoff run ended with a 38-3 defeat to Indiana in the quarterfinals.

Simpson, a redshirt junior, is ranked 30th overall in CBS Sports' 2026 NFL Draft Prospect Rankings and is the No. 3 quarterback prospect, trailing Indiana's Fernando Mendoza and Oregon's Dante Moore. Despite a strong start to the season, Simpson faced challenges in key games, including a regular-season loss to Oklahoma and a subpar performance in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia. Nevertheless, he earned All-SEC second-team honors from both media and coaches.
