Arizona football signs former Louisville punter Carter Schwartz

National Signing Day for college football saw minimal activity for Arizona, as the majority of recruits had already signed during the early period in December. Arizona had previously signed 20 high school and junior college recruits, but two, including 4-star running back Brandon Smith, later switched commitments, with Smith signing with Oregon.

On the recent signing day, Arizona signed former Louisville punter Carter Schwartz, adding him to their roster of over 20 transfers acquired from the NCAA transfer portal. Schwartz, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, is set to replace ex-Washington State kicker/punter Ryan Harris, who will not join the team for 2026. Schwartz, who has two seasons of eligibility left, averaged 41.1 yards on 30 punts during his tenure at Louisville, appearing in 18 games.

The Wildcats have a vacancy at punter following Isaac Lovison’s graduation. Schwartz will compete with Australian punter Chase Ridley for the starting position during spring training.
