Bengals sign QB Sean Clifford to the active roster from the practice squad

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed quarterback Sean Clifford from the practice squad to the active roster. This decision comes as a precautionary measure due to starting quarterback Joe Flacco's AC joint sprain, which has left him questionable for the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears. Clifford, who joined the Bengals' practice squad on September 16 following Joe Burrow's injury, may serve as either a backup or an emergency third quarterback. He last played in the NFL in 2023 with the Green Bay Packers.

Additionally, the Bengals have activated defensive end Cedric Johnson from injured reserve. Johnson, who was sidelined with a calf injury before the season began, returned to practice on October 22. His activation comes at a crucial time as star defensive end Trey Hendrickson is dealing with a hip injury that might prevent him from playing this week.
