College football team loses 35 players to transfer portal

Ohio State's 2025 football season ended with a setback after an undefeated regular season. The Buckeyes were defeated 13-10 by Indiana in the Big Ten Championship and subsequently lost 24-14 to Miami in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Cotton Bowl. Entering the playoff as the No. 2 seed and defending national champions, Ohio State experienced a significant late-season disappointment. In response, the Buckeyes have been actively utilizing the transfer portal since January 2026, acquiring 17 players, including standout recruits like former five-star defensive lineman James Smith and edge rusher Qua Russaw. However, Ohio State is experiencing a substantial outflow, with 35 players listed as outgoing transfers, one of the highest numbers in college football.

Notable departures include high-profile recruits such as five-star receiver Quincy Porter, who transferred to Notre Dame, and other key players moving
