College football’s February signing period an afterthought now — but Notre Dame adds a QB to 2026 class

Penn State's new head coach, Matt Campbell, has successfully assembled a freshman class of 15 recruits for the Nittany Lions after a challenging February signing period. This effort followed Campbell's transition from Iowa State and was necessary due to the departure of former coach James Franklin, who took a position at Virginia Tech. Many recruits initially committed to Penn State had opted for Virginia Tech in December.

Most of the new recruits, originally committed to Iowa State, followed Campbell to Penn State. Despite the late start, Penn State's recruiting class, which also includes over three dozen transfers primarily from Iowa State, has improved its position, though it remains in the lower third of the Big Ten according to 247Sports' composite rankings. Notable recruits include edge rusher Elijah Reeder and December signee Jackson Ford, both promising pass-rushing talents.
