$54 million college football coach strongly linked to historic NFL team

The NFL coaching carousel is in full swing following the end of the 2025 regular season, with several teams making significant changes. The Tennessee Titans and New York Giants initiated the trend by parting ways with their head coaches during the season. After the regular season concluded, the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and Arizona Cardinals also opted for new leadership.

A major development occurred post-NFL Wild-Card Weekend as Pittsburgh Steelers' longtime head coach Mike Tomlin resigned, leaving a highly coveted vacancy. Tomlin's departure marks only the fourth time since 1969 that the Steelers' head coaching position has been open, with previous tenures held by Chuck Noll, Bill Cowher, and Tomlin himself.

In the current hiring cycle, coaches with prior NFL head coaching experience, such as John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski, are in high demand, while top coordinators are less sought after. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman has emerged as
