Falcons announce interview with Matt Ryan for president of football operations

The Atlanta Falcons have officially interviewed former quarterback Matt Ryan for the role of president of football operations. Ryan, who spent 14 years with the Falcons and was the 2016 NFL MVP, is considered a strong candidate for the position. Other candidates interviewed include Mike Disner from the Lions, Brandt Tilis from the Panthers, Josh Williams from the 49ers, and Ian Cunningham from the Bears. The new president of football operations will report directly to Falcons owner Arthur Blank, and the next general manager and head coach will report to the president. Ryan has been working in broadcasting since retiring but would leave his CBS role if appointed. The Falcons have not made the playoffs in eight years, a streak that began after Ryan's departure as the starting quarterback.
