Paul Finebaum, a prominent voice in college football, expressed doubt about the Alabama-Ohio State home-and-home series scheduled for 2026-27, suggesting it might not occur. Finebaum shared his prediction during an appearance on WBNS-FM 97.1 The Fan in Columbus, Ohio, citing conversations with Alabama's athletic director and concerns about the impact of adding a ninth SEC conference game. The series, announced in June 2020, initially planned for Alabama to visit Ohio State in 2027 and the Buckeyes to play in Tuscaloosa in 2028. Alabama has already canceled scheduled games against West Virginia and South Florida following the SEC's decision to expand to nine conference games. The move aligns the SEC with the Big Ten, Big 12, and soon-to-be nine-game ACC schedules. Alabama's 2026 season will open with East Carolina and includes a notable matchup against Florida State.
