First outgoing FSU football player makes transfer decision

Thirty Florida State football players have entered the NCAA transfer portal as of January 5, just three days after the portal opened. Among these players, former punter Mac Chiumento has committed to transferring to Texas for his final season. Texas needed a new punter following the graduation of Jack Bouwmeester. Chiumento played 12 games last season, averaging 44 yards per punt, and his departure leaves Florida State considering options for their next special teams strategy.

Florida State is also active in acquiring new talent through the transfer portal, having recently added defensive back Nehemiah Chandler to their roster. Meanwhile, several players have announced their return to the Seminoles for the 2026 season, including Ja'Bril Rawls, Duce Robinson, Landen Thomas, and Ashlynd Barker.
