Former ASU linebacker chosen for Black College Football Hall of Fame

Eddie Robinson Jr., head coach at Alabama State and former NFL linebacker, has been selected for the Black College Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026. Robinson's college career at Alabama State was distinguished by his recognition as SWAC Defensive Player of the Year in 1990 and 1991, and his induction into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 1998. He began his professional football career as a second-round pick for the Houston Oilers in 1992 and played 11 seasons in the NFL, including a notable performance in the 1999 postseason with the Tennessee Titans.

Robinson is among six new inductees into the Black College Football Hall of Fame, alongside Bethune-Cookman defensive back Nick Collins, Florida A&M coach Rudy Hubbard, Fort Valley State defensive back Tyrone Poole, Jackson State wide receiver Jimmy Smith, and contributor Steve Wyche from Howard. The inductees will be honored during the Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl on February 21
