In-State DL Connor McFadden Details Path to Signing with Clemson

Clemson University has extended a preferred walk-on (PWO) opportunity to in-state defensive end Connor McFadden from Catawba Ridge. Despite the upcoming 105-man roster limit implementation in 2025, which will mostly require full scholarships, Clemson is still offering select PWO spots. McFadden, who signed on signing day but was not publicly announced by the school, has the chance to earn a scholarship through his performance.

McFadden caught Clemson's attention last fall during a game attended by Clemson coach Mike Reed, who was initially there to scout another player. After a successful performance, McFadden received a call from Clemson about a week before signing day, offering him the PWO spot and inviting him for a campus visit. Following a comprehensive six-hour visit, McFadden committed to Clemson.
