Indiana football defensive coordinator Bryant Haines named Broyles Award winner

Indiana football defensive coordinator Bryant Haines has been named the Broyles Award winner, recognizing him as the top assistant coach in college football. This marks the first time an Indiana assistant has won the award in its 30-year history. Haines led a defensive unit that contributed to Indiana's perfect 16-0 season and College Football Playoff national title, ranking fourth in total defense and second in scoring defense. The Hoosiers also excelled in sacks, tackles for loss, and turnovers.

Haines, who has worked with Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti since 2014, recently secured a new three-year contract with a starting salary of $3 million annually, making him one of the highest-paid assistants in the FBS. Despite interest from other high-profile programs, Haines is committed to returning to Indiana next season, where he will continue to work with a team returning six starters, including four All-Big Ten honorees.
