LA Bowl ceases operations after five seasons

The LA Bowl has been discontinued after five seasons, as announced by the game’s organizers. Washington's victory over Boise State on December 13 marked the final LA Bowl game. The event, which began in 2021, featured matchups between Mountain West and Pac-12 teams. However, structural changes within the conferences impacted the bowl's continuity. The Pac-12, following its restructuring post-2023, saw teams like Washington and Cal participate despite their new affiliations with the Big Ten and ACC, respectively. The Mountain West is also undergoing changes, with teams like Boise State and Utah State joining the reformed Pac-12. The LA Bowl is the second recent bowl game to be removed from the schedule, following the discontinuation of the Bahamas Bowl, which was replaced by the Xbox Bowl in Texas. The bowl game landscape is currently adjusting to shifts in conference alignments and potential expansions of the College Football Playoff.
