Marshall Faulk Reportedly Finalized Deal To Become Southern's Head Football Coach

Marshall Faulk, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and former NFL MVP, is set to become the head football coach of the Southern University Jaguars. Reports indicate Faulk has agreed to a three-year contract with an option. This move brings Faulk back to his native Louisiana and follows a trend of NFL legends taking coaching roles at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Southern University hopes Faulk can replicate the turnaround successes seen by DeSean Jackson at Delaware State and Deion Sanders at Jackson State. The Jaguars are looking for a resurgence after a disappointing 1–6 start to the 2025 season, which led to the dismissal of head coach Terrence Graves. The team now stands at 1–10 under interim coach Fred McNair.
