Omarion Hampton discloses that he had a fractured ankle

Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton revealed he suffered a fracture in his left ankle during Week 5 against the Commanders, which led to his placement on injured reserve. Hampton, who returned to practice and was listed as limited on Wednesday, hopes to play against the Raiders this Sunday, pending medical approval. Hampton has accumulated 314 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with 135 receiving yards, over five games. In his absence, Kimani Vidal has been the primary running back, amassing 417 yards on 96 carries, including a standout performance in Week 6 against the Dolphins. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman indicated that both Hampton and Vidal will share responsibilities in the backfield once Hampton is cleared to play.
