Packers cut Clayton Tune, sign Desmond Ridder to active roster

The Green Bay Packers released quarterback Clayton Tune following his performance in the Week 18 game against the Vikings, where he completed 6 of 11 passes for 34 yards in a 16-3 loss. Subsequently, the Packers signed Desmond Ridder to the active roster as the third quarterback for the playoffs, supporting starter Jordan Love and backup Malik Willis. Tune, who also started a game for the Cardinals in 2023, has struggled in his career with 21 completions on 38 attempts for 112 yards, no touchdowns, three interceptions, and a passer rating of 27.7. Ridder, who has not yet played for the Packers, brings experience with 18 career starts, having thrown for 4,002 yards and 16 touchdowns. Additionally, the Packers added wide receivers Julian Hicks and Kisean Johnson, along with tight end Messiah Swinson, to their practice squad.
