Penn State adds another 2026 prospect formerly signed with College Football Playoff team

Penn State Football has bolstered its 2026 recruiting class with the addition of safety Christian Askew. Askew, a 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound safety, committed to Penn State after being released from his commitment to James Madison University. His release followed JMU's coach Bob Chesney's move to UCLA. Askew is the second former JMU commit to join Penn State, following wide receiver Ben Whitver. Despite these additions, Penn State's recruiting class, led by first-year head coach Matt Campbell, ranks 85th nationally according to 247Sports composite rankings. The class now includes 14 high school recruits alongside 32 transfer portal additions.
