Protector of the Year: Joe Thuney

Bears left guard Joe Thuney has been awarded the inaugural Protector of the Year at the NFL Honors, recognizing him as the top offensive lineman of the season. The award highlights the importance of protection, durability, and the often-overlooked contributions of offensive linemen. The selection was made by a panel of former NFL linemen, including LeCharles Bentley, Jason Kelce, Shaun O’Hara, Orlando Pace, Will Shields, and Andrew Whitworth. Other finalists included Garett Bolles, Quinn Meinerz, Aaron Brewer, Creed Humphrey, and Penei Sewell. Thuney, who also received first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors, played a crucial role in the Bears' success, contributing to their NFC North title and advancement to the NFC divisional round. Under his leadership, the Bears' offensive line led the league in fewest giveaways and ranked third in both rushing offense and fewest sacks allowed.
