Rattler Legend Rudy Hubbard Selected for Black College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Rudy Hubbard, former head football coach at Florida A&M University, has been selected for induction into the Black College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Hubbard, who coached at FAMU from 1974 to 1985, achieved an 83–48–3 record and led the team to the inaugural NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship in 1978, marking a significant milestone for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) football. His leadership also resulted in back-to-back Black College National Championships in 1977 and 1978. Hubbard's career highlights include a five-year winning streak at the Orange Blossom Classic from 1974 to 1978. Prior to his coaching career, he was a running back at Ohio State University and later became the first African-American assistant coach on Woody Hayes' staff.
