Seahawks put the pieces in place to commence sale effort

The Seattle Seahawks are preparing for a sale of the franchise following their recent Super Bowl victory. Investment banking firm Allen & Co. and law firm Latham & Watkins will manage the process for the Paul G. Allen Trust. The team was purchased by Paul Allen in 1997 and is currently controlled by his sister, Jody Allen, after his death in 2018. The sale process gained momentum after the expiration of a lease term in May 2024, which would have directed 10% of the sale proceeds to the state of Washington. The NFL has been urging the sale, leading to a $5 million fine being suspended on the condition that the team is sold.
