Soures: Art Briles is back in college football

Art Briles has been appointed as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU), marking his return to college football after a decade-long absence. Briles, 69, was previously considered untouchable in the college football landscape following his dismissal from Baylor in 2016 due to a scandal involving the program's culture and accountability issues. Briles' hiring at ENMU was confirmed by sources on Sunday night. ENMU, located in Portales, New Mexico, competes in the Division II Lone Star Conference.

The Greyhounds finished the 2025 season with a 3-8 record, prompting the dismissal of head coach Kelley Lee, who had a three-season record of 11-24 with the team. Eastern New Mexico has not achieved a winning season since 2021. Briles, whose career record stands at 99-65 at the college level, previously achieved significant success at both high school and college levels, including winning three conference championships at Baylor.
