Terrell Williams will move to a new role with the Patriots

The New England Patriots plan to reassign Terrell Williams to a high-ranking position on Mike Vrabel’s staff in 2026. Williams, who joined the team as defensive coordinator after Vrabel's appointment as head coach, spent much of the previous season away from the team while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. He was able to return for Super Bowl LX. In Williams' absence, inside linebackers coach Zak Kuhr assumed the role of calling the defense, leading the team to an AFC championship. Kuhr's successful performance positions him as a strong candidate to permanently assume the coordinator role.
