The last two lawsuits against Deshaun Watson have settled

All lawsuits against Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson have been resolved nearly five years after the first case was filed. The last two of 27 lawsuits, which were scheduled for trial in early 2026, were dismissed with prejudice on January 6, indicating a settlement. The lawsuits involved allegations of misconduct by Watson during massage-therapy sessions. Lauren Baxley, one of the initial plaintiffs, had refused to settle until now. Her attorney, Tony Buzbee, confirmed the settlement, marking the end of his involvement in the litigation against Watson. Initially, Watson's legal team declined early settlement discussions, leading to a surge in cases and a subsequent 10-game suspension in 2022. Watson, who signed a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract with the Browns, has struggled to return to his previous performance level since his last strong season in 2020. He remains with the Browns through 2026, as the team plans to retain him.
