Two prominent college football teams emerge as favorites to land nation's No. 3 QB

Illinois prep quarterback Israel Abrams, a top prospect for the 2027 recruiting class, is drawing significant interest from Auburn and Purdue, two schools considered unexpected frontrunners in his recruitment. Abrams, ranked as the No. 3 QB prospect nationally by Rivals and second among passers by 247sports, has yet to make a commitment despite many of his peers already doing so.

Recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong highlighted Abrams's strong relationships with both Auburn and Purdue coaching staffs. Abrams visited both campuses in January and plans to return in the spring. Auburn's program trajectory and Purdue's potential for immediate impact are key factors in his consideration.

Additional schools showing interest in Abrams include Tennessee, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State, and Florida State. However, Auburn and Purdue remain the leading contenders for the talented quarterback, known for his athleticism and arm strength, as he approaches his senior high school season in 2026.
