University of Alabama at Birmingham football player Daniel Israel Mincey has been charged with attempted murder following an incident involving the stabbing of two teammates. Mincey allegedly attacked JaSire Peterson and Joshua Underwood with a knife at the team's on-campus football operations building. The incident occurred before UAB's Senior Day game against South Florida, which they lost 48-18. Mincey, a redshirt freshman, was arrested shortly after the attack and is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on a $90,000 bond. Both victims have been released from the hospital. The motive for the stabbing has not been disclosed. UAB officials considered canceling the game but proceeded after confirming the players' stable conditions. The university has removed Mincey's name from the team roster. UAB is set to conclude its season against Tulsa.
