Wisconsin starting offensive lineman transfers to Big Ten school

The Wisconsin Badgers will undergo significant changes to their offensive line in 2026. Left tackle Riley Mahlman is entering the 2026 NFL Draft, concluding his eligibility. Meanwhile, Joe Brunner and Jake Renfro have entered the transfer portal. Brunner, who considered entering the draft, will transfer with one year of eligibility left, likely attracting interest from top programs.

Renfro, who will be in his seventh year of college football, has faced a career marked by injuries. After missing the 2022 season at Cincinnati and enduring injuries at Wisconsin, he played just four games in 2025. Renfro has committed to the Illinois Fighting Illini, a team in need of experienced linemen as they are losing four starters, including center Josh Kreutz. Renfro's connections to Illinois include his father, Rick Renfro, who played there from 1982-84, and his status as an Illinois native.
