With Tyler Bass out, Bills RB Ray Davis kicks and makes extra point in preseason game against Giants

The Buffalo Bills signed kicker Caden Davis to a one-year contract after sixth-year kicker Tyler Bass was sidelined by a pelvic injury. Despite the signing, it was running back Ray Davis who took the field for the Bills' first extra point of the preseason. Ray Davis, known primarily for his role as a running back, successfully kicked a 33-yard PAT during the game at Highmark Stadium. This decision followed his performance in a team scrimmage, which impressed the coaching staff.

Later in the game, Caden Davis, who previously spent time with the New York Jets and set a school record for long field goals at Ole Miss, made a 24-yard field goal. His attempt was ironically shorter than the extra point made by Ray Davis earlier in the quarter. The use of non-traditional kickers in preseason games has been observed before, such as Philadelphia Eagles punter Braden Mann and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson in previous instances.
