Ranking of College Football Coaches Jobs Undervalues Cal

Cal is in search of a new head football coach following the dismissal of Justin Wilcox. According to The Athletic, Cal's five-year record is 28-34, and the program's estimated valuation is $158 million, ranking 65th among Power 4 teams.

Despite Cal's low valuation compared to top-ranked schools with valuations exceeding $1 billion, factors such as strong administrative support from Chancellor Rich Lyons and General Manager Ron Rivera could enhance the job's appeal. Rivera, a two-time NFL Coach of the Year, is actively involved in the football program and is expected to offer competitive compensation to attract a new head coach. The university recently paid nearly $10 million to buy out Wilcox's contract, indicating financial commitment to program success.
